The Full Take
BB-8 is one of Star Wars' most beloved designs, and LEGO® has done right by the shape here — the sphere reads clean, the dome sits right, and it looks the part on a shelf. But $89.99 is a hard number to square with what's in the box. The build is pleasant without being particularly inventive, and 569 pieces at this price point puts it in awkward company with sets that do significantly more. The lone minifig (BB-8 in minifig form, essentially) doesn't sweeten the deal. It's a C- set in a world where LEGO® keeps pushing prices up and hoping the IP carries the weight — here, it almost does, but not quite.
