The Full Take
The UCS Imperial Star Destroyer is one of those sets where the ambition is real but the math is brutal. At nearly five thousand pieces, the finished model commands a room — the sheer scale and greebling are legitimately striking in person. But LEGO® priced this one at $700, and the interior is basically hollow air with a tiny Tantive IV tucked underneath for street cred. Two minifigs. Two. For seven hundred dollars. The build experience itself is long and technical, which will satisfy a certain kind of builder, but there's a nagging feeling throughout that you're assembling a lot of repetitive gray plate stacking rather than clever engineering. Value retention is mediocre for a set this expensive, which means you're not getting it back on the secondary market either. Buy it if the Star Destroyer silhouette on your shelf is worth $700 to you — and only then.
