The Full Take
The Y-wing is a beloved ship with serious Star Wars pedigree, and somehow LEGO® still managed to make this feel like a letdown. Sixty pieces and no minifigures is a brutal combination at this price point — there's almost nothing here to justify the purchase on day one. The build itself is too small to display with any real presence and too sparse to teach a builder anything worth learning. Kids will have this done and forgotten before the box hits the recycling bin. The one number worth noting is a 9.0 appreciation rate after retirement, which means the secondary market has corrected for what the retail price got wrong. Even so, a D overall is hard to argue with — this set asks more than it gives at nearly every angle.
