Lost City is a BrickLink Designer Program set that commits hard to the build: 3,506 pieces means you're in for a long, involved session, and the techniques throughout reflect a fan-designed sensibility rather than a mass-market formula. The problem is everything surrounding that build experience. Three minifigs in a city set is almost a joke — there's nobody home. At $289.99 the price is difficult to square with what you get on the shelf, especially when the finished display doesn't land with the dramatic presence you'd hope to justify it. The BrickLink program has delivered some genuine stunners, and Lost City isn't without its charm, but it reads more like an ambitious project than a complete, confident set. Solid for the committed builder who wants the journey; harder to recommend for anyone else.
