Dobby is a beloved character, but $34.99 for a buildable figure with no minifigs and middling parts value is a tough sell even for the biggest Potterheads. The charm is there — the execution just doesn't match the price tag.
Is the price fair?C-Nostalgia tax is real here — $34.99 for a buildable figure with no extras is a stretch.
Will you love it?C-Dobby's charm carries the set further than the build deserves, but it's a one-and-done experience.
Holds its value?B-Retired buildable character figures in Harry Potter have held quietly — Dobby likely follows suit.

The Full Take
Few Harry Potter characters carry as much emotional weight as Dobby, and LEGO® clearly knows that — this set leans entirely on that love to justify its existence. The buildable figure format can work, but 403 pieces at $34.99 feels like they're charging a nostalgia premium rather than delivering a product worth the number on the sticker. There are no minifigs, no scene, no story context — just the figure on whatever surface you put it on. The build itself is passable, and Dobby's likeness lands reasonably well, but passable doesn't move the needle at this price point. Harry Potter collectors who need Dobby represented on their shelf will find it acceptable; everyone else will pause at checkout. It's not a bad set, but it's not a confident one either.
