There's a version of this set that should be legendary, and it almost gets there on the outside — the castle silhouette reads beautifully from across a room. But crack it open and the experience is quietly disappointing: 2,660 pieces that mostly build walls, and a single minifig rattling around inside a structure meant for an entire wizarding world. The price sits in a fair window for the scale, and secondary market history on big HP sets gives holders some confidence. What's missing is the spark — the sense that LEGO® really swung for it. Other Hogwarts entries gave you more characters, more playability, more reason to care about what's happening inside the walls. This one delivers a backdrop and calls it a set. Fans of the property will find things to like in the exterior detail, but they'll also notice what was left out.
