The book-case format is clever, but thirty bucks for 257 pieces in 2022 is a hard sell when the charm of Defence Against the Dark Arts can't fully outrun the sticker shock.

The Full Take
The Hogwarts Moments line had a genuinely fun idea — fold open a storybook and find a classroom inside. Defence Against the Dark Arts pulls it off with some personality: the Boggart wardrobe, a couple of signature minifigs, and a tidy little scene that nods to one of the most beloved lessons in the series. But the price has always been the elephant in the room. The build itself is brief and the techniques are simple, so the experience leans more on the IP than the construction. Where it lands is as a display piece for Harry Potter fans who want something compact and thematic on the shelf — it works for that, just not at full MSRP. Hunt a sale and the calculus improves; pay retail and you'll feel it.
