Hulk Lab Smash arrived in 2014 riding the wave of Marvel's peak pop-culture moment, and the minifig lineup — Hulk, Thor, Maria Hill, and a couple of AIM soldiers — is the strongest thing here. The lab build itself is functional but forgettable: a few breakaway panels, some equipment, nothing that photographs well or impresses on a shelf. At $49.99 for 399 pieces, LEGO® was asking a lot for what amounts to a mid-tier playset with limited display ambition. It's the kind of set that kids tore through on a Saturday afternoon and parents quietly resold the following spring. The Marvel license carried most of the weight, and without a standout building section, the set leans entirely on its characters.
