Hogwarts Whomping Willow
75953-1 · Harry Potter
Based on 29 reviews · thin
The Whomping Willow gets the flying Ford Anglia AND the Hogwarts Express tunnel in one box — but the tree itself is more 'dramatic stick' than the monster it is on screen.
Is the price fair?B-Fair but not thrilling — $69.99 sits right at the line between 'fine' and 'wish it were less'.
Will you love it?C+The Ford Anglia saves it, but the Whomping Willow itself underwhelms compared to what it is on screen.
Holds its value?B+Retired Harry Potter sets from this wave have legs — this one's quietly appreciated since it left shelves.

The Full Take
Six minifigs anchored by a flying Ford Anglia is a flex most Harry Potter sets from this era couldn't match. The Whomping Willow is iconic to Chamber of Secrets, but LEGO®'s interpretation leans compact — the tree reads sparse next to the chaos it's supposed to represent. That said, the Ford Anglia swooping in mid-build is genuinely one of the better character moments you can recreate on a shelf. At $69.99 the price sits in an awkward middle zone — not a deal, not a rip-off. Where this set quietly earns its reputation is on the secondary market; retired HP sets from this wave have held strong, making it more interesting in hindsight than it felt at launch. As a pure build, it's a C+ experience — functional, fun with kids, forgettable for builders chasing technique. Chamber of Secrets nostalgia is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here.
