The Venator-class is one of the most iconic ship designs in Star Wars, and LEGO®'s rendition of it is genuinely impressive at a distance. Up close, though, the cracks show — two minifigures in a $650 set is a creative decision that's hard to defend. The build runs long and repetitive, the kind of session that tests patience more than skill. Display presence is the one area where this set doesn't disappoint; it reads as a serious centerpiece. But the price tag is steep for what amounts to a very large, very grey wedge. Collectors who need the Venator on the shelf will buy it and make peace with the compromises. Everyone else should ask whether $650 couldn't do more work elsewhere in the hobby.
