The Full Take
The Imperial TIE Fighter lands a B-, which is about right for a set that does some things well and coasts on others. Three minifigs at this price point is legitimately better than what LEGO® usually gives you in this range — you get an Imperial Pilot, a Stormtrooper, and Darth Vader, which covers a lot of the Imperial shelf. The ship itself is a fine representation of the TIE Fighter silhouette, recognizable and display-ready without being particularly exciting to build. The 'what you get' score reflects that the build is a bit sparse and the cockpit detailing leaves room to want more. At $44.99 the price is fair enough that it doesn't sting, but it also won't make anyone's jaw drop. A solid entry point for Star Wars fans, a soft pass for anyone chasing something deep.
