The A-wing is one of Star Wars' sleekest ships, and LEGO®'s 2017 take captures that silhouette well enough — but $39.99 for 358 pieces is a tough sell when the model feels like it should be a $25 set.
Is the price fair?C-Retail pricing is the set's biggest problem — this flies better at $25 than $40.
Will you love it?B-The A-wing's silhouette is genuinely satisfying on a shelf, even if the build doesn't push you.
Holds its value?B-Quietly holds value post-retirement — nothing explosive, but steady enough to justify patience.

The Full Take
The A-wing has always been the underdog of the Rebel fleet — fast, angular, iconic — and this set at least nails the basic shape. Three minifigs is a reasonable haul, including a General Leia that was genuinely hard to find at the time. The build itself is straightforward, nothing that'll surprise a veteran builder but not embarrassing either. Where it stumbles is the price: LEGO® stretched the MSRP past what the experience justifies, and most buyers noticed. It's landed at a C+ overall because the good stuff — the ship design, the minifig lineup — is real, but the value equation just doesn't balance at retail. If you catch it on sale, the calculus changes; at full price, you're paying a premium for a mid-tier build.
