There's something right about a Y-wing set that feels a little rough around the edges — the ship itself is a patchwork bomber, and LEGO® leaned into that aesthetic. The exposed hull sections and greebling do a decent job selling the 'battle-worn' look, and five minifigs including Gold Leader is a solid haul for display or play. The build experience is competent but not memorable — a lot of repetitive technic framing that gets the job done without surprising you. Where this set stumbles is the price tag: $59.99 sat on the high side for what you get in 2017 dollars, and that friction has followed it into the secondary market.
