Ninja Dragon Riyu's Battle

Based on 6 reviews · thin
Riyu is a cute dragon and Ninjago fans will be happy to have him, but $44.99 for 347 pieces puts this squarely in 'wait for a sale' territory unless the little dragon has already stolen your kid's heart.
Is the price fair?A-Five dollars too confident for 347 pieces and a small dragon — hold for a 20% off sale.
Will you love it?B-Riyu is charming and the set plays well, but don't expect it to wow anyone over ten.
Holds its value?C+Ninjago battle sets rarely become shelf legends; expect a modest bump at best after retirement.

The Full Take
Dragon companions are one of Ninjago's better modern ideas, and Riyu delivers a solid little sidekick with decent articulation and a fun, colorful build. The four minifigs round things out nicely — you're getting the full crew for a mid-tier battle set. Where it stumbles is the asking price; $44.99 feels about five dollars too confident for what's in the box. The build itself is straightforward, probably a single afternoon for anyone past the beginner stage, and doesn't offer much that'll surprise a seasoned builder. As a gift for a Ninjago-obsessed kid, though, this hits the right notes — dragon, ninjas, action. It lands at a B- overall: likeable, functional, slightly overpriced for what it delivers.
