The Elemental Dragon vs. The Empress Mech puts two genuinely cool mechs against each other, and on concept alone it works. Six minifigs is a solid roster, and the mech designs have real shelf presence for a Ninjago set. But $129.99 is where the whole thing starts to wobble — the piece count doesn't back up the price tag, and you feel it. The build itself is fun without being remarkable; nothing here will make a hardcore builder stop and stare. For Ninjago fans it's an enjoyable afternoon, but the premium feels unjustified next to what LEGO® was shipping at similar prices that year. A B- overall: likeable set, wrong price.
