Jay's Lightning Jet EVO is the kind of set that exists because every wave needs a cheap entry point — and that's basically its whole story. The EVO gimmick is charming in theory: one build that swaps between a starter mode and an upgraded form. In practice, at this scale, the transformation feels less like a reveal and more like you snapped on four extra pieces. Jay's minifig is solid as always, and Ninjago fans collecting the character will want him, but the jet itself struggles to look like anything distinct on a shelf. For a tenner this should feel like a steal; instead it feels like paying convenience-store prices for gas-station sushi. The B for enjoyment is real — kids genuinely like small, fast builds — but the D on price is doing a lot of honest work here.
