Kai's Ninja Race Car EVO is exactly what a gateway Ninjago set should be — a sharp little vehicle with a transformation gimmick that kids can actually pull off on their own. The EVO mechanic, where you rebuild the car into a beefed-up form mid-play session, is a clever trick for a budget set. One minifig is a little lonely, but Kai is the right face to put on this one.
