The Crystal King arrives as a major Ninjago villain and the set tries hard to deliver on that billing — a crystalline throne, five minifigs, and a chunky centrepiece build. The problem is the price tag lands well above where this set's execution deserves to sit, and that gap is hard to ignore once you notice it. The build itself is enjoyable enough, with some fun translucent crystal parts and a solid villain minifig that fans of the arc will want. But the overall structure feels a little sparse for eighty dollars, and the play features don't quite compensate. The minifig lineup is the strongest argument for picking it up — Crystal King himself is a standout, and the Ninja selection covers the key characters from the storyline.
