The Crystal King set does something a lot of mid-tier Ninjago builds forget to do: it actually delivers on its villain. The Crystal King minifig is striking, and stacking four other figures alongside him at this price point is a move that makes the whole package feel generous. The build itself is where things get wobbly — 722 pieces that don't quite cohere into something display-worthy or technically exciting. It's more playset in spirit than showpiece, which is fine if you know that going in. Where LEGO® got this one right is the value equation: for under eighty bucks you're getting a legitimate main villain, a solid supporting cast, and enough Ninjago chaos to keep a kid busy. The B+ lands because the minifig lineup punches above the set's weight — the build just doesn't match that energy.
