The Full Take
The dragon itself is the star here, and to LEGO®'s credit it does look like something with a bit of fire in its eyes on a shelf. Four minifigs round out the cast without doing anything memorable, and the build is a serviceable afternoon of medium-difficulty techniques. The problem is the price: $49.99 for 564 pieces is where this set trips over itself, and there are better Ninjago dragon entries that give you more for the money. Kids who are deep in the Ninjago universe will find plenty to play with — the dragon swooshes, the figures have the right enemies to fight, and the set hits its action beats. But for anyone without a kid already invested in the theme, it's harder to justify pulling the trigger at full retail. A B- on love, a D on price — that tension is the whole story of Fire Dragon Attack.
