Boulder Blaster lands a B+ and most of that grade is carried by its minifig haul — four characters at $39.99 is a ratio Ninjago fans don't see often enough. The train-cannon vehicle design is chunky and satisfying, the kind of thing a kid wants to crash into stuff immediately. Build-wise it's not breaking new technical ground, but the 449 pieces hold together with enough variety to keep the process interesting. Display presence is solid for a vehicle set — it reads as a complete scene rather than a half-finished prop. The price is where this set really separates itself; at MSRP this is one of the better deals in the Ninjago lineup. Just don't buy it expecting the secondary market to reward your patience — appreciation on this one is flat.
