The Epic Battle sets were a clever concept — two iconic characters, one contained duel, one price point low enough to grab at checkout. Kai and Skulkin deliver on the fantasy side: the minifigs are solid and the elemental fire detail reads well even at this small scale. The build itself is thin, though, and 70 pieces doesn't leave much room for complexity or surprise. At $9.99 it feels like LEGO® is charging for the name on the box more than what's inside it. That said, younger Ninjago fans won't clock any of that — they'll just see Kai ready to fight and immediately start making sound effects. It's a set that works better as a gift add-on than a standalone purchase, and the C- hold grade tells you not to treat it like a sleeper.
