NINJAGO City Docks is the rare $230 set that doesn't make you wince at checkout. The layered waterfront design rewards every angle with something new — a noodle shop here, a hidden detail there — and the sheer density of the build keeps you busy for hours. Fourteen minifigs is an almost absurd bounty, enough to populate the whole scene without needing anything else. It pairs beautifully with the original NINJAGO City as an expansion, but it also holds its own as a standalone display piece. The build experience itself is varied and engaging, never falling into the tedious repetition that trips up big city sets. The one honest caveat: the 'what you get per dollar' impression can feel slightly thin compared to other modular-style giants, but that's a quibble against an otherwise excellent package.
