NINJAGO City Docks is the set that made NINJAGO feel like a real place — dockside market stalls, a working crane, layered verticality — but LEGO® slapped a $230 price tag on it that's hard to square even six years later.
Is the price fair?F$230 for the sidekick set was a tough sell at launch and reads even tougher now.
Will you love it?BThe layered dockside detail and 14-fig roster make this a genuinely satisfying build.
Holds its value?C-Sits flat on the secondary market — not a loser, but don't expect lift.

The Full Take
The Docks expansion to NINJAGO City is arguably the more interesting half of the duo — where the original went tall, this one goes wide and textured, with a fish market, noodle shop, and a dockside crane that all feel genuinely lived-in. Fourteen minifigs across the roster means the cast is stacked, and the build itself rewards patience with clever micro-detail work at every level. The problem was always the price: $229.99 at launch was a big ask for a set sitting in the shadow of its more iconic sibling, and it never quite shed that 'supplemental purchase' label. Secondary market hasn't done investors any favors either — it floats, it doesn't soar. But if you wanted to build a NINJAGO skyline that felt complete, this was the piece that made it breathe. The C+ overall is fair; the love is real, the price was the wound.
