Garmadon's Volcano Lair has one thing going hard for it: the villain lineup is stacked, and for Ninjago Movie collectors that minifig haul is the real draw. The lair itself looks menacing enough on a shelf, but crack it open and the build is pretty thin for the price — lots of visual bluster over actual structure. At $50, LEGO® was asking a lot for 521 pieces and what amounts to a backdrop. It's the kind of set that scores well in the box photo and loses points the moment you start building.
