NINJAGO City landed in 2017 as one of the most architecturally complex sets LEGO® had ever shipped — five stories of interconnected shops, restaurants, and market stalls that reward you for looking closer at every level. The building techniques here borrow from modular DNA but push into something denser and more theatrical, with details that justify the piece count rather than just padding it. Nineteen minifigs sounds like marketing fluff until you actually spread them across the scene and realize the city starts to feel populated. The price has always been the honest obstacle — $299.99 at launch was a significant ask, and it still stings on the secondary market. What you get for that money is a display centerpiece that dominates whatever shelf it lands on, not a casual weekend build. The B overall reflects a set that is genuinely great at what it does, held back only by the cost of entry. If you can stomach the spend, there's very little else in the LEGO® catalog that builds like this.
