NINJAGO City landed in 2017 and immediately reset expectations for what a licensed theme could produce. Three densely layered floors pack a sushi restaurant, a market, a laundromat, and a dozen other micro-scenes into one vertical cityscape that rewards long staring. Nineteen minifigures is a number that sounds made up until you're pulling them out of bags one by one. The build itself is a long, satisfying weekend — not a repetitive grind, but a constant rotation of new techniques and unexpected angles. At $299.99 for this much set, the price was fair at launch and still reads that way in hindsight. The weakest argument against it is resale: the secondary market hasn't been kind, so this one belongs on a shelf, not in a closet waiting for a flip. If you want a centerpiece that actually earns the word, NINJAGO City is it.
