The Water Strider is one of those sets where the minifig count does a lot of heavy lifting — four characters at $30 would be reasonable on that alone, but you're also getting a legitimately weird mech build that walks the line between playable toy and display-worthy oddity. The spider-leg design has real presence on a shelf; it reads as a finished object rather than a half-built vehicle. What holds it back is the overall parts haul — 494 pieces is fine, but some of the structural bulk isn't doing much beyond filling out the silhouette. Still, for a Movie-era set, it has more character than most of its wave-mates. The B+ is fair: it's not a collector centerpiece, but it punches well above its price.
