Police Speedboat and Crooks' Hideout packages its premise well: you get a waterside criminal lair, a pursuit boat, and three minifigs pulling the whole scenario together without needing anything extra. The build itself moves through a few satisfying phases — dock structure, the hideout interior, the speedboat — so it never stagnates. The play story is obvious and that's not a knock; kids can run this scenario straight out of the box with zero imagination tax. Where it stumbles is the price tag. Thirty-five dollars for 311 pieces in 2024 is City leaning on brand loyalty more than value. The set earns its B for the experience it delivers — it just asks a little too much to get there.
