The Police Training Academy is a solid City set dragged down by a $100 price tag that doesn't match what's in the box — great concept, questionable ask.
The parts alone are worth about 118% of the street price — the basis for this C- price read.
BargainThe parts alone are worth more than you pay — $99 of parts for $84.
A police training facility is exactly the kind of building LEGO® City needs more of — functional, themed, and full of storytelling potential. Six minifigs spread across the academy grounds give kids and adults plenty of characters to work with, and the set's layout has a lived-in quality that reads well in a City layout. The build itself is competent without being remarkable; there are no jaw-dropping techniques, but nothing feels phoned in either. The sting is the price: $99.99 for 823 pieces in 2023 is a tough sell when competing sets offer more per dollar. It's a B- set in concept and execution — the idea lands, the value doesn't. If you catch it on sale, the equation shifts considerably.
