The Full Take
City sets live or die on playability, and Emergency Vehicles HQ delivers a solid spread — fire truck, police helicopter, ambulance, and a chunky HQ all in one box. The B on the love read means kids and casual fans will have a good time here; there's genuine play value packed into the footprint. The problem is the price tag. At $69.99, this sits in a bracket where $10 more gets you significantly more set, and the build itself doesn't do enough clever or surprising to close that gap. Five minifigs is respectable for the scale, but the overall design reads more 'shelf at Target' than 'shelf in your display room.' Hardcore builders will find little to chew on — the techniques are bread-and-butter City construction throughout. Buy it for the kid, not for the collection.
