$160 for a City ship that tops out at 817 pieces is a tough sell — the Arctic theme does real work here, but LEGO® left too much gap between what you get and what you're paying.

The Full Take
The Arctic Explorer Ship has a genuinely cool premise: a research vessel pushing through polar waters, loaded with scientific gear and a crew of seven. The build delivers a solid mid-size ship with decent interior detail, and the Arctic setting gives it more character than a generic harbor boat. But $159.99 is where things get uncomfortable — this is a set that looks and feels like a $120 product. The minifig selection is good, the play features are functional, and kids who are into exploration themes will find real mileage here. It's not a bad set; it's just a set that LEGO® priced past its ceiling. Pick it up on sale and the C+ climbs noticeably — pay full retail and you'll feel it.
