The Lunar Research Base has a lot going for it: modular building sections, a rover, a rocket launch area, and six astronaut minifigs covering a real range of moon-base activity. The build itself is varied enough to stay interesting across 794 pieces, and the finished layout has genuine shelf presence — it reads like a complete scene rather than a random cluster of parts. The space theme carries real nostalgic weight, and LEGO® City does it well here in terms of playability and design. The catch is the price — $130 is a tough ask for what you're getting, and the secondary market hasn't rewarded patient investors the way deeper space sets have. If you catch it on sale, the calculus shifts; at full retail, you're paying a premium for a set that's good but not great.
