The Full Take
The Express Passenger Train is exactly what a LEGO® City rail set should be: a long, clean locomotive with passenger cars, working lights, six minifigs, and Bluetooth-powered motor control out of the box. At $190 it's not a steal, but train sets command a premium and this one at least delivers the full package — track, power, and rollable stock in one purchase. The build itself is smooth and satisfying without being technically demanding; you get a nice sense of scale as the cars come together, even if no single technique stands out. Six minifigs give the platform and carriages a lived-in feel, which helps the finished model read as a complete scene rather than just a vehicle. Where it loses some ground is replay and resale — City trains don't have the aftermarket pull of Technic flagships or licensed themes, and once built, it mostly sits on a loop. Still, as a centerpiece for a City layout, it's the most complete train LEGO® offers at this tier, and that counts for something.
