The Mobile Crane does exactly what it says on the box: it's a working crane on wheels, with a boom that extends and a hook that actually lifts. That functional core is the set's best quality, and kids who are into construction vehicles will get some real mileage out of it. The problem is LEGO® priced this one like they forgot the competition exists — $39.99 for 340 pieces in 2022 is a rough value proposition, full stop. The build itself is competent but not inspired; there aren't many moments that make you pause and think about a clever technique. On the shelf it reads as a smallish yellow truck, not a statement piece. It's a serviceable set let down by a price that doesn't match the experience.
