A police chase over ice cream is exactly as goofy as it sounds, and that's the whole charm — this set knows what it is and commits. The fun-factor is real; the price tag is not.
Is the price fair?FWay too much money for what's in the box.
Will you love it?BThe goofy scenario sells it — kids will actually play with this one.
Holds its value?C-Retires quietly, not the kind of City set collectors hunt for.

The Full Take
City chase sets live or die by their energy, and this one has it — a crook in an ice cream truck is a premise that writes itself. The truck itself is chunky and colorful in the way that makes kids immediately grab it off the shelf. Three minifigs feels thin for a $40 ask, and 319 pieces at that price is where the charm starts to crack under scrutiny. The build is breezy, maybe 45 minutes tops, so don't expect an afternoon project. As a playset it punches above its weight — the vehicle interaction is natural and the scenario is easy for younger kids to just get. It's not a shelf piece, it's not a builder's puzzle, it's a toy that does its job and not a dollar more.
