Air Race lands a B+ by being straightforward about what it is: a compact, lively City set with a great minifig-to-dollar ratio and a clean race plane build that pops on a shelf without demanding much space. The stunt pilot, crew, and spectator setup gives the scene real life — this doesn't feel like a half-populated display piece. The build itself is brisk, maybe 45 minutes, which is fine for what it is, though hardcore builders won't find much to chew on technically. It's a strong kids' set first, a decent display piece second, and a gift that lands without requiring explanation. Just don't buy it as a long-term hold — the secondary market on City race sets is flat and likely to stay that way.
