Play Stories is the kind of set that exists to get Ninjago into more hands at a price point that barely registers. Twenty-eight pieces won't challenge anyone, but the minifig is the point here — a bite-sized slice of Dragons Rising that a kid can tear open and be playing with in under five minutes. The build itself is skeletal, which is fine when the price reflects it. Shelf collectors will want something beefier, and investors should look elsewhere since the secondary market for tiny licensed sets is thin. But as a stocking stuffer or an add-on grab at the checkout? Few sets justify the purchase this cleanly.
