A 40th anniversary set that feels more like a corporate pat on the back than a celebration — Technic deserved better than this for a milestone moment.
Four decades of Technic and this is the commemorative model they landed on. The build sits at 573 pieces and delivers a functional, gear-driven display model that checks the Technic boxes without clearing a single one convincingly. It's the kind of set that looks better in photos than it does on a shelf, and feels more obligatory than inspired. The price graded D for a reason — this was never a deal, and the 'anniversary' branding does more work than the engineering does. There's a certain collector appeal to milestone sets, but this one doesn't carry the gravitas that warrants the premium. A C- overall says it plainly: it exists, it functions, it just doesn't excite.
