Ford's GT40 MKII is one of the most storied race cars ever built, so the bar for a Technic version is high. The profile reads right from across the room, and the low-slung stance does justice to the original. But at 793 pieces there's not a lot of mechanical complexity under the hood — no working engine, no real gimmick to justify the Technic badge. Seventy-five dollars is defensible but not exciting, and the build lands somewhere between a casual afternoon and a forgettable weekend project. It's the kind of set that looks better in photos than it does on your shelf, and feels less impressive in hand than the subject matter deserves. If you're a GT40 devotee you'll still want it; everyone else should temper expectations.
