The Mars Crew Exploration Rover has a lot going for it on paper: space theme, functional Technic mechanisms, and a footprint that looks serious on a shelf. The problem is LEGO® priced it at $149.99 for a set that delivers a C experience at best. No minifigs means no crew for your crew exploration rover, which is a weird omission for a set this size. The build itself is solid — suspension, articulation, and some genuinely clever engineering — but it doesn't push the boundaries of what Technic can do at this price point. Display-wise it reads as a credible sci-fi centerpiece, though the color palette is functional rather than stunning. Secondary market data doesn't suggest this one becomes a grail, so the calculus has to be: do you love Technic Mars stuff enough to pay the premium?
