The 948L-II Skidder is one of those sets where LEGO® clearly had a licensing deal and a target audience in mind, but struggled to close the gap between the two. Forestry equipment fans exist — they're just a narrow slice — and the model does capture the skidder's hulking, purposeful silhouette reasonably well. Technic functionality is present: articulated steering, a working grapple, and drivetrain mechanics give builders something to engage with. But $199.99 is a hard ask for a machine that lands as a conversation-starter only if your guests are into timber harvesting. The build experience is solid without being exceptional, and the finished model has shelf presence in a workshop diorama but nowhere else. At a hundred and fifty it'd be an easy call for the niche crowd it's aimed at; at full retail it asks for a lot of faith.
