$150 for a Technic set that needs your phone to do anything interesting is a tough sell — and the transformation gimmick never quite sticks the landing.
Is the price fair?D$150 for a set that's crippled without an app is a hard no.
Will you love it?D+The transformation gimmick wears off fast and the build experience isn't rich enough to compensate.
Holds its value?C-Middling secondary market energy — app-dependent sets rarely develop a passionate aftermarket.

The Full Take
The App-Controlled Transformation Vehicle had one job: make you feel like you're piloting something cool. Instead, you're babysitting a Bluetooth connection while a 772-piece build shuffles between two modes that both look unfinished. The app dependency is the core problem — without it, you have an expensive static lump, and with it, the experience is laggy and underwhelming. Technic sets at this price point usually justify themselves with engineering you can see and touch; the cleverness here is buried inside software. The transformation mechanism does work, and there's something to appreciate in the engineering, but it's not $150 worth of something. Display collectors will walk past it, kids will lose interest faster than they lose the app, and investors won't find much upside waiting at retirement.
