2017 Technic pieces for $160 — that price-to-scale ratio is almost suspicious. The tow truck looks the part on a desk, even if the feature list won't blow any minds.
Is the price fair?A+One of the most fairly priced Technic sets in years — $160 for this much truck is a genuine win.
Will you love it?D+No minifigs, no gimmick — just a dense mechanical build that rewards patience.
Holds its value?C-Resale has been lukewarm; this one's for the build, not the flip.
The Full Take
The Heavy-Duty Tow Truck is one of those sets where the price does most of the talking. At $160 for over 2000 pieces of proper Technic engineering, it lands well below what comparable-scale builds typically cost. The truck itself is bulky and purposeful — outriggers, a working crane arm, and enough mechanical detail to keep a builder occupied for a solid weekend. It's not the most visually dramatic Technic flagship, and the color palette is purely functional rather than striking. Display-wise it holds its own, but won't stop guests in their tracks the way a flagship supercar might. Where it shines is in the build experience and the sheer weight of content you're getting for the ask. A mid-tier grade overall, but that A+ on price is hard to argue with.
