2,573 pieces of Land Rover for $199.99 — that's a staggering amount of Technic engineering at a price that makes almost every comparable set look embarrassed.

The Full Take
The Land Rover Defender earns its B+ on the strength of sheer scale and mechanical ambition. LEGO® packed in working suspension, a detailed inline-6 engine, and a fold-flat rear seat into a model that genuinely looks like a Defender from across the room. The build itself runs long — in the best way — with enough varied subassemblies to keep you engaged across multiple sessions. Where it stumbles is the Technic aesthetic problem: up close, the studless beams and pins remind you this is a model of a car, not the car. No minifigs, no interior drama beyond what the engineering provides. Still, $199.99 for this much heft and this much building is a deal that's hard to argue with on release day.
