Top Gear had a real moment in pop culture, and LEGO® leaned into it hard here — but the execution doesn't hold up. The app-controlled gimmick was the whole pitch, and that pitch has a shelf life tied to software support, not LEGO®'s retirement schedule. At $129.99 for 463 pieces, the ask was steep before you factor in that the RC functionality requires your phone to stay in the loop indefinitely. The build experience is the one thing that keeps this set from being a total loss — it runs long enough to feel substantial. But once it's built, there's not much left: no display wow factor, no minifig, no passive shelf presence. A D overall is probably generous given how badly the price/value story falls apart.
