Sméagol and Déagol sharing a set is a genuinely inspired pairing — one of fantasy's most heartbreaking origin stories compressed into a tiny diorama. The build leans scenic: a riverbank moment frozen in time, which has shelf charm if you're a Rings fan. But 181 pieces at this price point is a hard number to defend, and LEGO® knows it. The minifigs carry most of the weight here, and they do decent work — Déagol especially doesn't get a lot of love in merchandise. The build itself is thin, closer to a polybag-tier experience stretched into a boxed set. For collectors chasing the IP, it scratches the itch; for everyone else, the value equation is rough.
