Icons of Play is a celebration set at heart: fifteen minifigs, several mini-environments, and enough variety to remind you why LEGO® spans so many worlds. The problem is that variety cuts both ways — nothing here gets room to breathe, and the builds feel like lobby displays rather than destinations. At $99.99 it's not a steal, but it's not a slap in the face either; the minifig haul does a lot of heavy lifting on the value side. For collectors, it's the kind of set that looks best in photos and slightly underwhelms in hand. That said, the piece variety is genuinely broad, and dedicated fans of any one included theme will find at least one thing they're happy to own.
