BIONICLE is back — and LEGO® celebrated with $40 for 219 pieces and zero minifigs. The nostalgia is real, but this set charges premium for what amounts to a constraction throwback that hits like a gift shop impulse buy.
Is the price fair?DForty dollars for 219 pieces with no minifigs is a tough pill — this is priced like a prestige set without the substance to back it up.
Will you love it?CIf BIONICLE shaped your childhood, there's warmth here — but it fades fast once the build is done.
Holds its value?C-Secondary market interest exists thanks to the IP, but not enough to make this a confident hold.

The Full Take
Tahu and Takua returning to shelves is genuinely a moment — BIONICLE has a cult following deep enough that this set almost didn't need to be good. Almost. At $40, you're getting two small constraction-style builds with a piece count that would embarrass a mid-range City set. The build itself leans into that classic BIONICLE articulated-figure style, which will land differently depending on how much 2001 means to you. For the devoted fan, there's real joy in the character recognition alone. But nostalgia only carries so far when the price is this disconnected from what's actually in the box. An F overall isn't a judgment on BIONICLE — it's a judgment on what LEGO® asked you to pay for it. The IP deserved a comeback set that felt like a celebration, not a $40 test balloon.
