Fifty pieces and no minifigs is the whole story here: this is a promotional board game accessory that happens to use LEGO® bricks, not a set with any real substance. The build is over almost before it starts, and nothing about it earns shelf space or a place in a serious collection. Kids who love Ninjago will want the actual ninja — characters, weapons, story — and this delivers none of that. As a standalone purchase it's hard to justify at any price, and it scores a D overall for good reason. The only reason it doesn't bottom out entirely is a modest appreciation trend, which is faint praise for something this thin.
