A Technic Nutcracker sounds like a fever dream — and it kind of is. This 2017 employee gift exists in its own weird corner of LEGO® history, and that novelty carries it only so far before the C- reality sets in.
Is the price fair?DNo retail price — it was a gift, so the value question lands differently than usual.
Will you love it?C-The build keeps you busy, but what's sitting on your shelf when you're done is a hard sell.
Holds its value?CEmployee exclusives can hold niche interest, but this one hasn't broken out of obscurity.
The Full Take
Employee exclusives always carry a certain mystique, and the Nutcracker leans hard into that. But mystique only goes so far when the set itself — 732 pieces of Technic machinery dressed up as a holiday figurine — doesn't quite deliver on either front. The build is the highlight here, clocking in as the strongest thing about it, but what you actually end up with when it's done is awkward on a shelf and puzzling in context. No minifigs, no obvious play pattern, no clear audience. It's a curiosity piece, and it knows it. A C- overall feels about right: interesting to think about, less interesting to own.
