The Full Take
Creator 3-in-1 sets live and die by whether any of the three modes actually wows you, and Modular Modern Home lands somewhere in the middle on all three. The primary build is clean and contemporary — flat rooflines, big windows, a garage — but it never quite reaches 'display-worthy.' The alternate builds are simpler and feel like afterthoughts rather than genuine designs. For a kid it works fine: there's a house, there are rooms, there are two minifigs to move around. But the C overall score reflects a set that's competent without being compelling. The price at launch was the real sticking point — $29.99 for 386 pieces felt steep for Creator's house lineup in 2017. It's the kind of set you finish and feel okay about, which is fine, but fine doesn't make you reach for the box again.
